Now this is how an environmental message should be handled.  Miyazaki doesn't just tackle the destruction of the environment in this story, but also society's conspicuous consumption, our greed and gluttony and that it makes pigs of us all.  Heavy  topics for sure but the message is delivered with such a light hand, never to little that we can't get the gist but never so much that we tune out the message.  Add to that Miyazaki's trade mark visuals, a charming heroine and a handsome friend and you have a delightful film worth watching again and again.  It makes you want to save a river or creek.  Definately 5 stars
