Well you can tell what i did this weekend - I marathoned Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki movies. You can look at this movie in a way as a continuation of WHISPERS OF THE HEARTIt is clearly the novel that the Heroine in that movie was writing or at least the second in the series.  Unlike WHISPERS, THE CAT RETURNS is set completely in a fantasy world.  It starts with no good deed going unpunished as a school girl rescues a cat from a truck, only to find out he is the Prince of Cats and as reward his father plans to have her marry.  Of course that entails her turning into a cat.  Obviously our heroine wants none of this and the story becomes one of her rescue.  Delightful light piece of fluff with no heavy messages, but still well worth seeing.  5 stars
